Suburbs Junior Rugby Sevens Tournament

Our Open Weight Rugby Sevens' Team won the Junior Rugby 7's Tournament that was played at the Avondale Racecourse fields on Monday the 11th of April, 2011. The event was organised by the Suburbs Rugby Union Club alongside the Auckland Rugby Union organisation.

Our Open Weight Team were undefeated in their pool section, beating De La Salle College and Kowhai Intermediate to make it through to the semi-finals. They faced Otahuhu Intermediate in the semi-finals and came away with a comfortable win. The grand final was against Kedgely Intermediate who were tough contenders but our team hung in there to win 12-10 in a thrilling grand final match. They played exceptionally well as a team which was the key to their success. We are so proud of them!

The team is now fundraising to play at the NZAIMS Intermediate National Sporting Championships in Tauranga. The 3-day competition will see them compete against the best Rugby 7's teams from around New Zealand.
